PLEATS PLEASE
I want to say here that I'm mighty proud of myself of my work on this outfit. It had pretty taken me a while with the multitude of things I had to do before me. But as they say, it's not how long, but how well.
Hi, everyone and I hope you're all having a beautiful day on this debut month of August.
Never giving up on something I think is one of the most difficult things as individuals we face.
This post should have gone up since Saturday and I'm sorry it's taken this long to be up.
When I came up with the idea for the design on this skirt, I was already taken by the uniqueness of the colour of the skirt and it's fit on me. But I felt that despite the faux leather silver, it wasn't doing it for me in terms of the occasion I had envisioned . For me the skirt had to speak and speak it did.
So, I went to work. I decided to embellish the skirt and I had the perfect items, crystals and hematites. Now, we all know that pleats are in this season and I'm quite surprised about how chic they could be and look. Growing up for me pleated skirts were one of the worst things in fashion I could imagine. I wondered how someone could come up with something so unflattering but alas I realised that it's the wearer that makes the dress not the dress. Yes, I got problems like that. 😩😄😄. I could totally get turned off by the sight of an outfit that's been worn so unflaterringly.
Is it just me?
The beauty of pleats is that it's both chic and classy at the same time without doing too much. A perfect outfit for romantic dinner dates, it plays into office wear as well perfectly with collared a shirt and a no nonsense chic personality. ( why didn't I know this before)
How would you prefer to wear your pleated skirts and for which occasion?
I embellished along the lines of the pleats so that it catches the light in movement see here. I didn't want to go outside of the skirts design, remember it's pleats y'all and combined it with this beautiful tank top which could be styled cold should shoulder or otherwise (sorry it didn't show in the photo as I wished). My accessories were these beautiful dentelle clutch styled here , faux leather belt here. I decided to do away with jewelry as I wanted attention to be on the skirt and then finished off the look with these beautiful off-white pumps. (my attraction to statement shoes, bags everything.... somebody help me 😩) and not to mention my fabulous hair do. What can I say?
Now you could go gold on a silver pleated skirt as well and match it with a red bag and shoes. Switch the tank top for something in black for the not so daring and accessorise likewise, better still go simple and chic with a blush coloured T tucked in and blush high heeled pumps.
What I've learned so far about pleats just like stripes, is that the world is your oyster with this one and on that note mes amours.......
je vous aime fort.
Thank you for stopping by and see y'all in my next post...bisous

This outfit came together nicely so I’m proud of you too! Those shoes are everything!! I need them :) I have an issue wearing shiny materials like the one your skirt is made with, but you pulled it off nicely. Embellishing the skirt was a great idea.
